The essence of this creation dates back to 1995, when the artist’s father cast the original shark sculpture in solid bronze. Throughout childhood, that imposing piece sparked constant fascination and wonder: an object of quiet admiration, yet untouchable for a child due to the heavy metal and sharp edges.
Years later, inherited as a centerpiece in the artist’s home, the original sculpture continued to inspire. The long held desire to transform that once inaccessible symbol into something dynamic and approachable led to this reimagining: using a mold from the original bronze master, new resin editions were created, allowing the iconic silhouette to embrace new colors, lightweight refinement, and modern spaces.
Molded in high grade epoxy resin from the original master sculpture, the focal piece is inspired by the blacktip reef shark. Hand painted realism captures subtle pearlescent highlights, smooth skin textures, and the distinctive black markings on the fins, conveying the fluidity and grace of aquatic motion.
The foundation is crafted from a unique piece of sea weathered driftwood, collected along the coast of Florianópolis, Brazil. Over its natural surface, a living micro ecosystem thrives composed of native succulents, mosses, and lichens that playfully evoke the aesthetic of a vibrant coral reef and ocean floor.
Engineered for plant longevity and effortless maintenance, the shark sculpture is mounted on a central steel rod with a smooth fit mechanism. The sculpture can be easily detached from its base for misting, watering, and plant care, seamlessly merging art with everyday biophilia.
